Totox

Hi
What are the totox value of the zinzino balance oil ? And do you have any research proving that the quality of the oil is higher than competing brands ?

  • Hi Sverre,

    Thank you for your message!

As our Balance Oil is not a fish oil, but a combination of fish oil and extra virgin olive oil, we cannot therefore use totox values as a measure.

The olive oil has high levels of polyphenols, which help to maintain the Balance Oil's oxidative stability.

We do not have comparative research results to share, but can assure that our quality standards are high.

Our fish oil supplier Lysi has very high standards themselves and they buy fish oil according to our specifications and the most important specification is that it has a high content of EPA and DHA. Lysi is also a member of the sustainability program Friends of the Sea which involves certification of sustainable seafood from fisheries and aquaculture.
You can read more about Friends of the Sea here: www.friendofthesea.org
LYSI also has certificate through MSC which is about sustainable fishing.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us!

    Have a great day!

  • Thank you for your quick reply. Even though this is a mixture. Wouldn't it still be benefical to consumers and partners to know this value ? And is there any research supporting the role of polyphenols protective effects ?

  • Hi Sverre,

Because Balance Oil is a mixture, the totox value does not apply to our product.

You can find links to scientific articles in our webshop by clicking "Science", for example here: https://www.zinzino.com/site/FI/en-GB/products/Balance/300400

    Hope this helps!
    Kind regards,

  • So what is the totox value of the fish oil you use in the mixture ? Even tough the polyphenols protects against oxidation. Using a fish oil with high totox value will still make it a bad oil or am I misuderstaning the whole thing ?
    Sverre
  • Hi Sverre,

    Thank you for your question!

European Pharmacopoeia has set the upper value of TOTOX to 30, while GOED has set an upper limit of 26. This applies to fish oils.

The fish oil in Balance Oil have values below these limits.

All our products are tested and approved, following the rules and regulations in the EU.

    Kind regards,
    Tiina Customer Service
