What are the totox value of the zinzino balance oil ? And do you have any research proving that the quality of the oil is higher than competing brands ?

  • Hi Sverre,

    Thank you for your message!

As our Balance Oil is not a fish oil, but a combination of fish oil and extra virgin olive oil, we cannot therefore use totox values as a measure.

The olive oil has high levels of polyphenols, which help to maintain the Balance Oil's oxidative stability.

We do not have comparative research results to share, but can assure that our quality standards are high.

Our fish oil supplier Lysi has very high standards themselves and they buy fish oil according to our specifications and the most important specification is that it has a high content of EPA and DHA. Lysi is also a member of the sustainability program Friends of the Sea which involves certification of sustainable seafood from fisheries and aquaculture.
You can read more about Friends of the Sea here:
LYSI also has certificate through MSC which is about sustainable fishing.

  • Thank you for your quick reply. Even though this is a mixture. Wouldn't it still be benefical to consumers and partners to know this value ? And is there any research supporting the role of polyphenols protective effects ?
  • Hi Sverre,

Because Balance Oil is a mixture, the totox value does not apply to our product.

You can find links to scientific articles in our webshop by clicking "Science", for example here:

    Hope this helps!

  • So what is the totox value of the fish oil you use in the mixture ? Even tough the polyphenols protects against oxidation. Using a fish oil with high totox value will still make it a bad oil or am I misuderstaning the whole thing ?
  • Hi Sverre,

    Thank you for your question!

European Pharmacopoeia has set the upper value of TOTOX to 30, while GOED has set an upper limit of 26. This applies to fish oils.

The fish oil in Balance Oil have values below these limits.

All our products are tested and approved, following the rules and regulations in the EU.

    Kind regards,
    Tiina Customer Service
  • What means „below“ 26? Why Cant you answer Directly? Is your your product so Bad, that You cant say it? So if it Would Be good, You would say it properly as a Marketing ad with no regrets. So please give the Community an answer
  • Hello Paul,

Thank you for your feedback. We do not have a separate totox value since our oil is not just fish oil but a combination oil the values are not relevant. Our balance products contain not only fish oil but a combination of fish oil and extra virgin olive oil. Because of this, one cannot use totox values calculated for fish oil as a measure of oxidation.

  • Hello,

The answers provided to the specific questions are misleading and non conclusive.
Before any combining of products take place I assume that individual ingredients are selected and tested.
The question asked here is specific to the fishoil ingredient. The totox value is perhaps not know with your company, but that information is available with the deliverer of the fishoil.
Would you please contact them to ask the totox value of the product they deliver to you, which you use in your combination product?

Please do not reply with another non-answer, but with a specific totox value.

  • Hello Peter,

Thank you for your feedback. We have asked our house experts and will get back to you as soon as we can with an answer.

  • Hello Peter,

We are back with some answers to your question(s):

Lysi buys fish oil from different suppliers.
The totox value of the fish oil can vary and therefore we cannot give an exact value since it can differ from batch to batch.
The fish oil is tested so we know it is under the values sat by different organisations.
See our form Zinzino Fish Oil Standards (please see below)

We hope this helps you and answers your questions.  Have a great day,

    Vanessa Partner Support
